What is a quiet move?
A quiet move is a winning move that doesn't check, capture or immediately threaten. Players who learn 'checks, captures, threats' often stop searching too early and miss these.
If your weakness map shows quiet moves as a weak spot, it usually means your search is too narrow, not that your calculation is weak.
Common mistake
Assuming there's no win because no forcing move works.
How to spot it
If every forcing move fails, look for a move that takes away a key escape square or defender.
Think about what the opponent wants to do next, and whether a quiet move stops it while keeping your threat.
Pawn moves and king moves are common quiet winners.
