What is a knight endgame?
Knight endgames are like pawn endgames with a fork attached. Outside passed pawns are strong because the knight struggles to cover both wings.
These puzzles show how knights both stop and escort pawns, and how forks decide races.
Common mistake
Letting the enemy knight fork with tempo while your king is far away.
How to spot it
Look for knight forks of king and pawn or king and knight.
Knights hate rook pawns. A passed a- or h-pawn can be decisive.
Check whether a knight sacrifice lets your pawn through.
